With the Friends of 4-H Picnic last night, the 2010 Lyon County Fair has officially begun.
Earlier this week, 4-H members were busy preparing the fairgrounds for “company.” The Reading and Rinker 4-H clubs cleaned up the 4-H Diner in preparation for the start of the fair. Meanwhile, the Happy Harvesters and Logan Avenue clubs set up for Thursday night’s Friends of 4-H Picnic. Model Boosters Club is in charge of decorations.
The picnic initiates a fair schedule that stretches over 16 days of judging, grandstand entertainment and competitions, food, and carnival rides at the fairgrounds. The carnival opens Thursday.
Commercial exhibits will open on July 31, and continue through Aug. 5.
Advance tickets for grandstand events, when there are charges, cost $7 for adults and $1 for children 12 years and under. Tickets may be purchased from any 4-H member through Tuesday.
Tickets at the gate will cost $10 for adults and $1 for children under 12.
