Oppressive heat and humidity didn’t put a damper on Emporia High School band member’s long-planned trip to Washington, D.C., for the nation’s Independence Day parade.
In addition to the march down Constitution Avenue, band members took the opportunity to tour parts of the city and get a greater appreciation for the history of the country.
“We all made it without anybody passing out,” said Marah Carney, graduated senior who played percussion for concert band and conducted and led the marching band for parades.
