Nine holes of a new disc golf course at Melvern Lake have been donated in memory of the late E.L. and Z. Irene Hopkins, who left much of their estate to a charitable foundation that makes donations regularly in their names.
The other half of the course has been donated by Friends of Eisenhower State Park, where the course is located.
The course was designed by the Hopkins’ grandson, Brandon Hopkins, and is certified by the Professional Disc Golf Association.
The 18-hole course will open for practice rounds Friday night, before a certified tournament on Saturday, a family spokesperson said.
