Emporia High has decided on Dustin Delaney as its next head football coach, EHS athletic director Britton Hart said.
The Emporia school board approved the hiring of Delaney on Wednesday night. Delaney, an Emporia State alum, will come to EHS from perennial power Hutchinson, where he served as offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach. He'll replace Bill Lowe, who's leaving Emporia after five seasons to become coach at the new Blue Valley Southwest High School. Hutchinson has won six straight State titles, including four in Class 6A from 2004 to 2007 and the last two in Class 5A.
For more on the hiring of Delaney, please see Thursday's Gazette.

Hopefully, DeLaney will usher in a non-petulant teaching style which results in respect from players and students.
