Dolly driver could use help

Tuesday, January 26, 2010

A Dolly Madison driver, William Dubree, was one of many people injured on Jan. 16 in a pile-up of more than 25 cars on Interstate Highway 35 between Wellsville and Ottawa. Dense fog was blamed for the accident.

“He’s currently unable to work, and his family is going to need some financial assistance while he is off work,” said Rayna Bush, Hostess Brands’ human resources manager for the Dolly plant here.

Dubree and his wife have adopted 12 special needs children and have two children of their own, Bush said.

Donations may be sent to: Hostess Brands, Attn: Rayna Bush, 1525 Industrial Road, Emporia KS 66801.

I must first say that yes this is an amazing man. I have had the privledge of meeting this family. They are an amazing family. There is such a love in that house that you can only imagine what it feels like to be a child in this home. Will and his wife are great people. They would honestly give someone else in need anything that they could. Remember that every little bit you can do is amazing. God bless Will and I pray he has a speedy recovery.

Yeah im with Farmraised....what was the deal...why did they take raynabushes comments off? her answer to the first question was "William" .. and yes the 2nd post was a positive comment she recieved from a email someone sent her about how he made a good choice of not swerving in the dense fog because he would have hit other people in the median of the highway that were in smaller cars, so he evidentally hit the back of another trailer instead so he didnt hurt as many people...my hat goes off to this man and his family!! My prayers are with you all!

Correct my memory ... but wasn't Will working (driving a Dolly truck) at the time of the accident. Where is the company's responsibility in this? Doesn't workman's comp and the union cover his salary? I know he's a good guy, but Dolly shouldn't get off scott free!

This is Janelle, Will's wife. We appreciate the support from our community, Hostess company/drivers/workers, church, EVCO/the Evans family, our child's classmate's family, and everyone else that I fail to mention right now. We will never be able to fully repay everyone, but I hope once we get back on our feet, we can do something to return the support.

The company/Dolly/Hostess/Rayna Bush have gone far beyond in assisting our family through this tragic event. Will does get worker's comp which is half of what his pay was. Unfortunately, he does not get disability. At the time it was offered, due to lack of funds, we passed on it. That, in itself, was a lesson to us that we will apply in the future if/when he goes back to work.

Will struggles some days more than others with his knees. The support we receive brightens his spirits.

We have found a new family that we didn't know existed and we value EACH and EVERY one of you. Thank you just doesn't seem enough.

Will and I keep reminding ourselves that 'thing happen for a reason'. With that in mind, I hope the Gazette will allow me to post the link to children in Kansas needing a forever home to call their own. This is the link:

https://www.adoptkskids.org/index.asp...

For those of you that were thinking of providing a home, please make the phone call now to TFI here in town and do so.

Again, thank you for the DuBrees!

NO, I am not against what this family has done for the kids, BUT... I went to the link provided by Mrs DuBrees and this is what it said about money

""Q: Do I have to make a lot of money?

A:No. In fact, most adoptive parents have very modest incomes. Furthermore, subsidy programs may be available to assist you with the costs of caring the child you adopt. Financial aid programs such as medical cards, tax credits, grants, and other support payments may also apply. ::

if this is so, how much money do you really get from the state or other agencys to provide care for these kids,, it seems as though that you would be receiving monies for each child except your own. Its hard to see how with him driving a truck at dolly, and making around 50,000.00 a year to take care of all of the kids, besides their own kids, that there has to be a large fund or state program funding it.. Are these young children really adopted by the DeBueeses or are they just providing love and a home for them.

NOW, save your fingers telling me that I should not of typed this BUT, this is a forum and I HAVE QUESTIONS, as well as comments and NO it may not please the PC people, but one must look through the fluff.

I have never made it a secret that our children get some subsidies. The amount, however, is a private matter. Our children have numerous behaviors that I won't go into and receive case management and therapy appointments. I could work, but by doing so, it wouldn't give me the time away necessary to attend to our children's special needs and help them heal from past abuse. I don't drive a fancy car {unless you call a 15 passenger van fancy} nor take exotic vacations. *If* you know us, our monies are spent on our children and what we can contribute to others. Obviously, it is was soooo much money, Will wouldn't have to work, now would he? We have the adoption decrees to 'prove' that yes, our children were adopted by us. As my oldest son once said, if we were in it for THE money, we would have done fostercare. Maybe you could take your time and contribute to the children in your community.

My posting the link was to make others aware that there ARE Kansas children needing forever homes. I am sorry that you chose to look at it differently. My thought is that you went looking for something to attack us with. That is sad, but you have a right to your comments as I do mine. There, you have it, the fluff!

Here's the "REST OF THE STORY"...
We love children...seen a need for children needing homes...wanted to help children heal from past abuse...wanted to keep siblings together...through adoption, became their forever home. And there you go, the "REST OF THE STORY'.

As for the gains..yes, I am going to admit, there are PLENTY of gains! To see their faces light up with happiness at the FIRST circus, the FIRST birthday cake, the FIRST time jumping on a trampoline, the FIRST time playing a board game, the FIRST time celebrating holidays and let's not forget the BIGGEST gains of all...hearing them say "you're the BEST mommy/daddy!" or better yet, the FIRST time being tucked in at night in their beds safely with a hug, a kiss and a "I LOVE YOU" unconditionally, no matter what. Yep, PRICELESS! ; )

My guess is Rayna Bush's second post may have been pulled because she was talking out of school about the details of the accident. All of that stuff will certainly be in litigation for years to come and revealing details (accurate or not) at this time is very ill-advised.
