Information about Lyon and Chase counties’ district courts now can be viewed at the Fifth Judicial District’s new Web site at www.5thjd.org.
“In the past we pretty much had all of our district court (information) on the Lyon County Web site, but we’re a judicial district with two counties,” said Ruth Wheeler, court administrator. “… This way, it’s a district Web site rather than a county Web site.
“Although there is still information we plan to add to it, we have now opened it to the public.”
Court dockets from Lyon and Chase counties will be updated and posted daily.
Wheeler said that people who utilize the new site are welcome to make suggestions about what information could be added to make the site more useful.
Construction of the site has been underway for several months by Advantage Computers. Several district court employees have access to make the necessary changes and updates, both in Lyon County and in Chase County.
Wheeler said the new site is user-friendly and easily amended. Information about the court furloughs anticipated periodically during the first six months of this year is being prepared and will be posted, unless the legislature resolves the crisis in funding Kansas courts.
“It’s not public yet, but once we find out for sure, we’ll have answers to questions people will have during the furlough time, and contact information so the community can go there,” Wheeler said.
