Cookie time

You hear the rumors around town and so you expect your doorbell to ring.
When it does, there’s a girl child standing on your porch wearing her Girl Scout sash over her coat because it’s January and 23 degrees outside. And that makes you wonder why children are selling door-to-door during freezing temperatures in January — just as half the town has begun New Year’s resolutions to lose weight.
Regardless of the calendar placement of Girl Scout cookie time, a mother stands at the sidewalk while the girl on my porch looks me in the eye and asks, “Would you like to buy some Girl Scout cookies?”
“Which are your favorites?” I question the Scout as she hands me the order form.

Nothing against the scouts, but people coming to your door trying to sell things gets annoying. Especially the college kids selling magazines, Then there's the people trying to sell siding and windows, the people selling fruit, the people selling vacuum cleaners, the people selling cleaning supplies. I've even had kids at my door trying to sell me old toys, And if that's not bad enough, I also get the people who want to buy everything they can see from the road. I've had people try to buy my boat and atv's several times. I even had a guy offer to pay me to cut down the tree in my front yard. I did buy a few boxes of cookies from a friends daughter, but I won't be buying anything from random strangers knocking on my door.
