The United Way of the Flint Hills’ fundraising campaign is in its final days, and there’s still time to donate to help the campaign reach its goal of $600,000.
Jami Reever, United Way of the Flint Hills executive director, said things are going well, but declined to announce the number before the celebration on Wednesday.
“We want there to be a lot of excitement for when we announce,” Reever said. “I think the community will be excited when they hear our announcement on Wednesday.”
Reever said the agency received a positive response on this week’s denim day, when employees paid to wear jeans to work. The event raised $2,000, Reever said.
There is another opportunity to help with fundraising efforts. KISS 103.1 is having a fundraiser at Natasha’s on Tuesday evening. One hundred percent of the cover charge will go the United Way and KISS is matching that total, Reever said. There will be live bands.
“It’s really nice of them to want to do something to try to get us close to the goal if not over,” Reever said.
People also can call the United Way at 342-7564 to pledge over the phone.
The campaign celebration will be at 11:45 a.m. Wednesday at the Granada Theatre. Lunch will be served and there will be a brief program. Tickets are $10. The deadline to sign up for the luncheon is 3 p.m. Monday.
