As we near the end of the 2009-2010 United Way Campaign, we want to express our sincere appreciation to all Emporians — and our supporters in our neighboring communities — for your support of our work this year. Whether you made a donation, dined united, wore jeans, or volunteered, thank you for helping us make this year’s campaign such a success.
While we won’t announce our final fundraising total until Wednesday afternoon at our Celebration Luncheon, we can say this: all of our community will be as excited as we are when that final total is announced. Over the course of the campaign, we’ve talked a lot about the 38 programs that your donations support. These agencies are shining beacons in our community, helping not only those who are in a difficult situation but also making sure our youth grow up with good morals and have the tools they need to succeed, the disabled have a rich and productive life, and that those who face a disaster have the help they need. These organizations, and all of their staff members, volunteers, and board members, deserve our appreciation for working so hard to keep their programs available to those who need it. Imagine Emporia without their programs and services… There is no doubt our community’s quality of life would be significantly diminished. Your support of these organization shows that you recognize their value and their commitment to improving our community.
We are still in some tough financial times, but despite this, our community has continued to be generous to the United Way, our partner organizations, and to so many other important causes in our community. Time and time again, Emporians pulled together to help others. And there is still time help the United Way before our campaign wraps up on Wednesday. If you haven’t done so already, please consider a contribution to this year’s campaign by contacting the United Way office at 342-7564. By making a donation you are not only ensuring that United Way funded programs are able to continue their work, you are making an investment in your community. Throughout this campaign, we challenged all of our community to LIVE UNITED. You have and you continue to do so. And for that, we thank you.
