Robert Stephenson Smyth Baden-Powell gets credit for organizing the leadership movement for boys. It was, however, two North Americans who laid the groundwork for what would become the Boy Scouts.
Marshall Sundberg, a longtime leader in the Boy Scouts of America, described the sequence of events that led to organizing BSA in the United States. Sundberg also is a roundtable commissioner for the Sojadi District, which includes Lyon and four surrounding counties.
“The interesting thing is it started happening at about the same time both places,” Sundberg said of the British and American groups.
