Motorist are allowed to turn left at a busy downtown intersection but need to be weary of congestion.
Traffic can turn left from Commercial Street onto Sixth Avenue even though the turn lanes have been eliminated due to water main construction, said Emporia Police Lt. John Koelsch. Left turns onto Commercial are legal as well.
Because traffic is funneled down to one lane in each direction on Commercial, motorist may need to be patient as turning vehicles can lead to congestion.

I am pretty weary of the congestion already, but glad the Gazette reminded me to continue!

How to make a retraction without saying it's a retraction: make it seem like a random tidbit of information.

Left turns were taken anyway.I saw people cross the double yellow line to my left side, and get into the oncoming traffic lane.Well, they thought they were going to turn.Or go straight.I didn't stick around to find out.

5 p.m. in Emporia is an interesting time, no matter where in the city. But at that particular intersection right now, 5 p.m. is hilarious if not downright treacherous.
