Water main project causing traffic congestion
Thursday, August 26, 2010
The Emporia Police Department is wanting the public to be aware of traffic congestion associated with the water main project on Commercial Street.
In the 600 block of Commercial Street, there is two-lane traffic and people cannot turn left onto Sixth Avenue, said Lt. John Koelsh with the police department.

Is it marked that you can't turn left on Sixth? I've seen tons of cars doing that.

It is not marked "no left turn" unless they just put a sign there since yesterday. Might help the congested traffic if one was placed there.

I needed to turn left there the other day and nearly went into the other lane out of habit. I realized what I was doing, but figured I could still turn left and did so from the correct lane. If they don't want people to turn left, they should put up a sign.
