Bluestem burglar caught

Thursday, August 26, 2010

A Nebraska man that may have been on a crime spree was apprehended by Emporia police late Wednesday evening.

Dennis E. Powell was allegedly trying to burglarize Bluestem Farm and Ranch Supply at 2611 West U.S. Highway 50.

Emporia Police Sgt. Mark Summey, said an alarm went off in the store at about 10:15 p.m. Officers were able to catch Powell as he exited the store. He was carrying a variety of tools and tires, Summey said.

Powell, 52, is from Wymore, Neb. He may be wanted in connection with two burglaries in Nebraska and one in Concordia, Kan. Police have contacted the Saline Co. (Neb.) Sheriff’s Office and the Crete (Neb.) Police Department to coordinate the investigation.

In that case, get a second/third/fourth job...no need to steal from a business who has WORKED for what they own.

Great job, EPD.

I can't help but think about what mrmaryland said about our hard working police force a couple of days ago. He called them "thugs."

LOL @ Steve. If you can't beat 'em, join 'em, huh?

Relax, Kuchera_Rub. Steve was just beating the ones who really mean it to typing it. See? It worked! None of them showed up on this one and Steve's blood pressure didn't go up several points reading it. In fact, it probably went down a notch as he gave himself and a few of us a good chuckle. Laughter is the best medicine and in this case, that's all his post was.

Mr Shapiro writes that Powell was "...allegedly trying to burglarize ..."

Then he [Shapiro] indicates " Officers were able to catch Powell as he exited the store. He was carrying a variety of tools and tires,"

It would appear that Powell wasn't TRYING, he DID commit burglary.

AND theft.

Allegedly.
