KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Kevin Smart’s assessment about where Emporia State is picked to finish in the MIAA this year wasn’t 100 percent accurate, but it was close enough.
“Well shoot, there’s only one way to go, and that’s up,” the senior running back said.
That’s an optimistic way of looking at it after the MIAA coaches and the media both picked the Hornets to finish ninth in the 10-team conference this year. But as with most teams that preseason prognosticators don’t foresee big things for, the Hornets aren’t letting the opinions of others affect them too greatly.
“No, not at all,” said senior defensive end Daniel Webb, who accompanied Smart and coach Garin Higgins to Monday’s MIAA Media Day. “I don’t think so. I guess you can say it helps with motivation, but we look at that stuff saying, ‘OK, they ranked us ninth — that’s just like motivation to go out there and have a great season.’ So that’s kind of what we look at it as.”

Jackslap......thats too easy. You want a new coach because........
You must have some really good reasons and you must know a great deal about how the program is being conducted. Lets not just take shots without backing them up with good solid facts.
