With a special question on the ballot and a native son running for a national office, Emporia and Lyon County voters turned out Tuesday in higher numbers than the state average.
Before Tuesday’s primary, Secretary of State Chris Biggs predicted a 19-percent voter turnout.
In Lyon County, 26 percent of registered voters cast ballots.
