Two arrested in early morning burglary

Wednesday, April 28, 2010

Two suspects were arrested early this morning after allegedly burglarizing an automobile around 1:15 a.m. Wednesday.

According to a press release by Sgt. Carlton Heller of the Emporia Police Department, around 1:11 a.m. today officers at the Emporia Police Department responded to the 1000 block of Michelle Street to a report of an automobile burglary in progress. The suspects fled the scene on foot when officers arrived. A suspect vehicle was located nearby and appeared to contain stolen property. A short time later, a suspect was located nearby and a foot chase ensued. That suspect was arrested.

The second suspect returned to the suspect vehicle and attempted to leave the area in the vehicle and was stopped and arrested.

“From the investigation, it appears there may be additional automobile burglaries,” Heller said in the press release.

Names have not been released at this time.

I think if more people read what I have written on burglary in these forums this type of crime would fade away in and around Emporia. I realize that I come across rather negatively when it comes to burglary but I am against burglary and feel the need to speak out against it. If that is too negative for some to handle ... well .. too bad. I am against burglary, deal with it.

IT'S A GREAT DAY IN EMPORIA! :-)

I'm serious.

Why was the suspect vehicle not secured by officers if there was a chase involved? Seems elementary, and not to mention dumb of the suspect to return to it, but that just makes you wonder.

Glad the creeps were caught.

I too am against burglery. But in trying to look at this in a positive light, maybe we are being too harsh on these 2 poor mis-guided souls.

I'm sure they were only trying to steal from the rich, to give to the poor. Because that's what we all do here in this wonderful city. We take care of each other.

Now, I'm sure with these positive comments, I have convinced some business to come to our fair city.

(LOL, yeah right....)

Hopefully these are the same SOB's that stole my stereo last weekend. Right in front of my house with a bright porch light on to guide them.
