After struggling on Wednesday in a trip to Washburn, the Emporia State women’s tennis team got its pride back and dominated on Thursday at home against Missouri Western.
The Hornets not only won 9-0, they did not drop one set, picked up their second conference win of the season and snapped a three-match losing streak in which they had held leads after doubles in two of the matches.
“It’s great to bounce back today,” coach John Cayton said. “It’s nice to reverse the situation from last night and be the dominant team here today.”
The Hornets’ most successful team this year has been the No. 1 doubles tandem of Michelle Barger and Amanda Morris, who were the only ESU doubles team to win at Washburn. They had another strong performance on Thursday, winning 8-0.
In singles’ play, Talena Lorren won her No. 1 singles match against Dominique Leone, 6-0, 6-2.
“Talena had a really dominant win at No. 1 singles, and they always have one really dominant player,” Cayton said.
