Miller dies of injuries

Jessica Miller, who was critically injured in a car accident on Feb. 18, died this afternoon at her parent’s home in Americus.
Miller and her cousin Matthew Peres were critically injured Feb. 18 in an accident in the 900 block of Road 130, west of its intersection with Kansas Highway 99. Peres is at Madonna Rehabilitation Hospital in Lincoln, Neb., where he is receiving treatment.
Miller died early this afternoon. She had been receiving hospice care at her parents’ home.
“Today at 1 Jessica passed away,” according to Miller’s CaringBridge site. “Her journey is over and her suffering is gone. The pain she felt is no more and now we must all begin our own grieving process. Jessica is now in her heavenly home and it is time for us to accept that.”
According to the CaringBridge site, the family is planning a funeral for the end of next week at Bethel Baptist Church on 12th Avenue in Emporia. Charter Funerals in Emporia is in charge of the arrangements for Miller’s funeral. A death announcement is in today’s Emporia Gazette. A full obituary will be published once it is received from the funeral home.
A fund has been set up for Miller at ESB Financial and Olpe State Bank. A fund for Peres has been also has been set up at Olpe State Bank. Donations are still needed to help pay for funeral costs for Miller as well as medical bills for both Miller and Peres.

I'm so sorry to hear this. I was just thinking of Jessica a couple of days ago while driving on Hwy 99 past the road she was on and further on, at the place where my cousin was in an accident where he received similar fatal injuries. May God comfort and keep her family.
