Emporia High’s girls cross country team finished 19th out of 24 teams at Saturday’s Rim Rock Invitational outside Lawrence, and the Spartan boys finished 29th out of 36 teams.
“We had some people that were sick this week and were unable to run, which left us shorthanded,” EHS coach Mark Stanbrough said. “We had some athletes stepping up to run their first varsity race, in a very strong multi-state field, on a challenging course. It was a difficult challenge, and we struggled as a team.”
