Ear, Nose, Throat doc retires

Monday, September 28, 2009

After many years of medical practice, Dr. Norman Fordyce Jr., who specializes in the care of the ear, nose and throat, is retiring from practice.

Fordyce has been in private practice since July of 1975, when he was in the Kansas City area. Fordyce’s experience ranges from a Navy flight surgeon to private practice. He came to Emporia in May 1990 and has remained in private practice at Emporia Head & Neck Surgery, 1130 Chestnut St.

Fordyce got into the medical profession after taking an aptitude test. He never really considered the medical profession until he received the results.

“I was going to be an engineer,” he said, adding that before choosing a medical profession he was treading water about what he really wanted to do with his life.

We'll miss you, Norm! Enjoy your retirement. What will your racquetball partner do without you after 18 years?

Dr. Fordyce I just heard that you are retiring and I wanted to let you know how much I appreciate your care 22 years ago. I had terrible problems with my ears as a kid and you fixed them. I just happened to make an appointment today with the ear doctor for a new problem and they told me. Thanks again and I hope you really enjoy your retirement. I wish you the best in this new chapter of your life.-matt duffey
