Burlington
The Coffey County Republican reported that the Burlington USD 244 Board of Education Monday passed a resolution that will allow a 4-mill tax levy for capital improvements. Four mills amounts to $46 for the owner of a $100,000 home.
Yates Center
The Coffey County Republican reported that the Woodson County Sheriff plans to resign effective Nov. 25, amid charges of making family information and official misconduct. According to the Yates Center News, the Woodson County Board of Commissioners announced Sheriff David Waddell’s resignation recently. The News said Waddell mailed a letter of resignation to Gov. Mark Parkinson and the reason stated was “personal and family matters.”
Cottonwood Falls
The Chase County Leader-News reported that the Cottonwood Falls City Council took action to begin the annexation of approximately 20 acres into the city at its Sept. 8 meeting. The area to be annexed is south of Eighth Street, west of Highway 177 and east of the airport.
