No more volunteers

A dog-house build scheduled on Saturday at the Lyon County Fairgrounds has reached its limits for volunteers, according to the Humane Society of the Flint Hills, which is sponsoring the event.
Applications are still open, however, from people who have dogs that must live outside, or spend long periods of time outside.
“We no longer need volunteers,” said executive director Judy Dieker, “but we still have several dog houses available if anyone needs them.”
Dieker said that organizers sincerely appreciated the response from community members who wanted to help on the dog-house assembly line and will be unable to because the maximum number of helpers has been reached.
“We just had so many that we’d be tripping over each other,” she said.
