WARRENSBURG, MO. — For a couple of weeks, the third-ranked Emporia State volleyball team has flirted with losing, but never lost more than a set at a time.
On Wednesday night at Central Missouri, the Hornets finally met a team that could seal the deal.
The ninth-ranked Jennies dominated from start to finish, winning 3-0 to give the Hornets their first loss and sending a message to the team that coach Bing Xu has been trying to get across for weeks.
“Throughout the season, we’ve had one game per match that’s given us a rough time, and we keep trying to learn from it, or saying we’ve learned from it, and we just don’t,” senior Amy Byfield said. “Eventually, it’ll lead to a loss like that.”
