Reception for Osborns
George and Ellie Osborn will be guests of honor at a reception from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. Sunday in the Williams Room at the First Congregational Church, 326 W. 12th Ave.
Women of the church will be hostesses for the reception, which is open to the public.
The Osborns, who have been active in the community and the church, plan to move soon to Arkansas.
Olivet Reunion
A potluck dinner will be served at the Olivet community and alumni reunion, from 11 to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Olivet Community Building.
Beverages and tableware will be provided.
Those who attend are asked to bring Olivet memorabilia, town and school photos, senior class pictures, sports trophies and other souvenirs. Organizers also recommend bringing lawn chairs.

Reading discussion
Kansas Learning First Alliance and KTWU TV, Channel 11, have joined together to present a program, “Reading, Writing and a Worthwhile Education for Kansas Kids,” that will be broadcast tonight at 7 p.m.
Emporia State University’s Department of Early Childhood and Elementary Education will be hosts for a “Watch and Talk” party that will include viewing the broadcast and talking about schools the program.
The party here will be from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. in Room 330 of Visser Hall on campus. It is one of several that are planned statewide to promote the program, according to the KLFA Web site.
