Meece to face trial on murder charge

DeAnna L. Meece is scheduled to stand trial beginning Nov. 30 for the June 17 stabbing death of her companion, 26-year-old Ricky Nurnberg.
District Judge Lee Fowler bound Meece over for trial Tuesday morning after a two-hour preliminary hearing into the case in Lyon County District Court.
Fowler said that the state had met the burden of proof required for the intentional second-degree murder charge.
“I do believe that the state has proven that a crime has been committed,” Fowler said. “... There’s probable cause to believe that the defendant committed that crime.”
