Meece bound over for trial

DeAnna L. Meece is scheduled to stand trial beginning Nov. 30 for the June 17 stabbing death of her companion, 26-year-old Ricky Nurnberg.
District Judge Lee Fowler bound Meece over for trial this morning after a two-hour preliminary hearing into the case in Lyon County District Court.
Fowler said that the state had made the burden of proof required.
"I do believe that the state has proven that a crime has been committed," Fowler said. "... There's probable cause to believe that the defendant committed that crime."
A witness present at the time of the stabbing, as well as three law enforcement officers and the county coroner involved in the investigation, all testified at the preliminary hearing.

He saw Meece, followed by Nurnberg, walk through the kitchen door next to the computer, and soon saw Nurnberg stumble back quickly through the doorway. Meece followed him.
"The next time I turned around was when I heard like a thud, which was him hitting the floor and that's when I turned back around," Nicholson said.
He saw Meece kneeling on the floor over Nurnberg, who was losing blood from the chest wounds.
"I kinda went into shock and went into my bedroom and grabbed my dog and grabbed Ricky's cell phone from the kitchen counter and took off running."

I dont know the battered womens syndrome very well, but it seems like it wouldnt apply to her since she wasnt living with him. She had her own place to go to and if I remember from a news article, she had been told not to be around him because of their history of not getting along. Lets hope she gets what she deserves.

i have spoken to his mother who does get on here and read the comments everyone leaves. she was present in the prelim trial yesterday. she sat thru the pictures they took of the scene and heard all the testimony. why don't we all take a minute to say a silent prayer for her for what she has had to endure. no mother she have to go thru what she is going thru. I love you Ann. You are in my always in my heart and most def in my prayers.

Hoss22, like I said I am going to be respectful to the family and friends of Ricky and I didn't know Ricky that well so I can't say anything about him but I AM a good friend of DeAnna and you DO NOT KNOW her so PLEASE be RESPECTFUL to friends and family of her side too. WE all will find out what happens at the TRIAL!

Well miss_thang i bet you say you was one of Rickys friends and didnt even attend his funeral. As for us having our outs only ricky and i will ever understand. Alot of you say you know but you have no idea. It was hard for me to see him go and i will miss him and our frienship we once had, so no. Shame on you!!!!!

i didnt know either one of these people but following the story i would not EVER want her walking the streets what if she were to date your son next.!! not to disrepect her friends and family but my son has been in a abusive relationship which could of easily esculated to this she was also crazy and i would fear for the next poor guy that dated her if she ever got out death penalty maybe not but life in prison YES!!!!! RIP RICKY.MY PRAYERS WITH BOTH FAMILIES.

You all should be ashamed of yourself. Yes she was wrong for what she did but have you ever thought that drugs and alcohol was involved. People who have problems with drugs and alcohol dont have a true grip on things. Yes she should pay for what she did I agree. I truely believe a life for a life but we all know that is not the way the law works. My thoughts and prayers go out to both families.

mrscobra1588- sorry guess I didnt know you had to know the people in article in order to have a opinion. I thought we could comment on any news articles not just the ones we personally know the victims or the suspects. my comments are made from what I have read and my experiences I thought thats what its here for. You may tell the gazette to put that in terms and conditions. if you dont know the subjects in article you are not allowed to comment. But since I dont think thats the rules I stick by my comments I dont have to know him to know he should not of had his life taken away by the hands of anyone and unless she was in fear for her life and couldnt get away (tied up. locked in) which doesnt appear to be the case Ricky or any other victim in this kind of situation deserves justice.
