Hornets need a healthy Page

Monday, September 21, 2009

Emporia State running back La’Darrian Page sat out the first half Saturday and played sparingly in the second half, running the ball only three times for five yards.

Page’s limited use was because of an injured knee, and he has not been 100 percent since Emporia State’s first game against Southwestern Oklahoma State.

Not coincidentally, the Hornet offense has not looked as strong since Week One. That night the Hornets racked up 399 rushing yards, led by Page’s 153 yards.

Page is a great runner in the open, but can't run in a crowd. His big first game , we played a weak team. Give the same amount of carries to either of the other backs, same results. Game two, he got open for one run, that was it... He had 20 more carries for 20 yards total! Trying to let him run up big numbers, cost us the game! The film does not lie, look for yourself.

BIGBYRD is absolutely correct. I have been to every game and #19 is not the answer! I feel the inside game with #7 and #25 has been more effective when they run it.
