THE HUMANE SOCIETY of the Flint Hills, which is offering a $10 discount to have pets spay and neutered.
• Craig Saalfeld who won two silver medals in the Deaflympics.
• Organizers and participants of The Great American Market. More than 150 vendors participated and more than 4,000 attended the event.
• The Emporia Police Department who will receive $17,200 grant for law enforcement equipment. The grant comes from the United States Department of Justice Bureau of Justice Assistance.
• High school students Logan Ranger and Elizabeth Dieker who held a fundraiser for Mariah Serrano. They held a dance and raised $1,577.44.
• Walburns Fitness and Wellness, which also held a fundraiser for Mariah Serrano. The event, called Mariah Mania, raised $6,000 and more than 300 people participated.
• Arturo Delgado and Rafael Bringas who opened a new Mexican restaurant, El Pollo Dorado, at 312 W. 12th.
• McKenna LeClear, Alex Stone and Emily Frese who were named as semifinalists in the 55th annual National Merit Scholarship program.
