Friday Thoughts is a light-hearted commentary.
AFTER MY YOUNGEST daughter, Hattie, was stung by a bee she has never been fond of them. After she ran into a smiling bee six times larger than her named Corky at a ESU football game she has been petrified of him.
For six years now, any time we have gone to a game it has been a bit of cat and mouse to keep as much distance between her and Corky. Needless to say, these avoidance tactics detract immensely from my game-viewing enjoyment.
At the start of every sports season, I have hope that perhaps this will be the year that she gets over her Corky phobia.
I am proud to announce it finally happened. Midway through the third quarter of the Hornet football game last Saturday, Hattie’s older sister wanted to meet Corky, and Hattie reluctantly went with her. For five minutes, Corky, Grace and Hattie sat on the bleachers watching the game.
Although the Hornets didn’t get a victory on the football field, I was glad of the victory that happened in the stands.
