The Emporia State soccer team beat Missouri Western 1-0 on the road Thursday to earn its first victory of the season.
Ashley Hill scored the game’s only goal in the 47th minute, her third goal of the season. Sarah Anderson recorded the assist, her second of the season, and also had two shots on goal.
Missouri Southern outshot ESU 16-10, but only three of those Griffon shots were on goal.
ESU goalie Nikki Schmitz had three saves for the Hornets and recorded the first shutout of her career.
