Riverside
The September meeting of the Riverside 4-H was called to order Sept. 2 by junior president Jade Jenkins. Roll call, “What is your least favorite sport?” was answered by 11 members, six parents and two leaders.
This is the last year at Riverside for Pam Kvas, so members presented her a plaque and a cake to show appreciation. The club also will give $50 to Betty Anderson for taking pictures at the fair.
The Miller Fire Department’s annual benefit raised money to help the church purchase tables and chairs for the new addition and the fire department to put a bathroom in the building. On Sept. 30, the club will have a 4-H float in the Northern Heights High School Homecoming Parade in Allen. The club chose to take a trip to Worlds of Fun as a “reward for participation in the 2008-09 year,” stated the club newsletter.
Nick and Luke Jenkins led the group in playing, “Who Wants to be a Parliamentarian?” For rabbit talks, Aubrey Jenkins told about her achievements and how she takes care of her rabbits at the fair. Jenna Ferguson talked about what to take to the fair and how to get ready for the fair. Josh Duft talked about his achievements. Moriah Miner told about her rabbits and said she will take some of them to the State Fair. For recreation, Joe Robinson led the group in playing “Bouncy Ball Toss.”
The next meeting will be at 7 p.m. Oct. 7 at the Miller United Methodist Church. Members will elect new officers and discuss future goals for the club.
