ALLEN — Northern Heights went into Friday night’s game against Herington trying to figure out its offensive identity after throwing up a goose egg in Week One.
Quarterbacks Gail Lee and D.J. Bronson showed that even without Kenneth Bronson, the Wildcats’ throwing days are not over. Lee threw for three touchdowns, Bronson threw for two and Air Heights bounced back from an embarrassing loss to Olpe with a 41-20 win.
“We weren’t sure how we were going to do it. We weren’t sure about quarterback play, but it ended up in our favor,” said junior receiver Nick Mendez, who caught four touchdown passes. “I’m glad we’re throwing the ball ... but it’s always good to have a rest and run the ball, too.”
The Wildcats proved they can run as well, finishing with 163 rushing yards as a team.
