Stalking will be the topic of the Seventh Annual Domestic Violence Summit in October at the Flint Hills Technical College.
The summit will run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 14 at the Flint Hills Technical College.
“Stalking is a crime that is often misunderstood, minimized or missed entirely,” a press release from SOS stated.
The conference, which is sponsored by SOS will inform about the crime of stalking, including stalking behaviors, prevalence and lethality.
“In addition to identifying and analyzing the strong link between stalking, domestic violence and sexual assault, presenters will also address how technology is used in stalking, the specifics of Kansas’ stalking law and best practices for investigating stalking case,” said Lori Moore, community relations director.
Presenters will be Jodi Rafkin and Det. Sgt. (Ret) Terry Lingenfelter. Rafkin is the program attorney at the Stalking Resource Center. Lingenfelter served as a crime supervisor for the Logan Township Police Department, Blair County, Penn.
Brochures and a registration form are available at the SOS Web site at www.soskansas.com. Fore more information about the summit or to register, call SOS at 343-8799.
