Emporia High’s tennis team split with Spring Hill and was swept by Blue Valley North and Olathe South on Thursday at Spring Hill.
No. 1 singles player Nancy Delgado and the No. 1 doubles team of Kaitlin Gile and Chloe Blake recorded the Spartans’ only wins for the day.
Delgado beat Spring Hill’s Coco Reimonn 8-4, and Gile and Blake won 8-6 against Spring Hill’s Ali Anderson and Betsy Bailey.
Lydia Roemer lost all three of her matches at No. 2 singles, falling to BV North’s Madison Rhymes 8-0, Spring Hill’s Bri Stites 8-2 and Olathe South’s Lizzy Mellot 8-1. Holly Kraft and Noelle Waters also dropped all their matches at No. 2 doubles, losing 8-1 to Carley Sutton and Megan Schultz of BV North, 8-3 to Tori Wyett and Layne Gilliland of Spring Hill and falling 8-5 to South’s Reyha Chalise and Ashley Hutchinson.
Delgado lost 8-0 to BV North’s Haley Foutnier and 8-5 to Olathe South’s Sima Asayeva. Gile and Blake lost 8-0 to Shea Flanagen and Shea Foutnier of BV North, and 8-2 to Rachel Smith and Sara Smith of Spring Hill.
