The Emporia State soccer team dropped its MIAA opener at Southwest Baptist 3-0 on Thursday.
The Hornets continued to have the same problems that have kept them from winning a game so far this season. They were outshot 24-7 for the fourth straight time and finished with just four shots on goal.
The SBU goals came in the 17th, 18th and 89th minutes. ESU got four shots from Sarah Anderson, who finished with three of ESU’s four shots on goal. Nikki Schmitz finished with five saves, allowing only one goal after taking over in the 18th minute for Katrina Goscha, who had only one save.
The Hornets fell to 0-3-1 with the loss. They are off until Sept. 17 when travel to Missouri Western.
