Northern Heights hopes that for the second straight year, it can use a season-opening blasting at the hands of Olpe as an opportunity to grow. Step One in this year’s turnaround effort comes tonight, when Heights plays host to Herington.
The Wildcats’ 40-0 loss last week at Olpe, featuring a horde of new NHHS starters, certainly didn’t look good to Heights fans, but immediate precedent offers hope. After getting crushed 55-14 by Olpe to start last season, the Wildcats went 5-3 the rest of the way, including a 5-2 Flint Hills League record.
