Hartford wins 1, loses 2

The Hartford volleyball team went 1-2 in a trio of matches on Tuesday, moving its record to 3-5 on the year.
The Jaguars dropped their first match to Waverly, 19-25, 17-25. Kellie Farr led the Jags with five kills and seven stuff blocks. Hartford served 86 percent as a team, with Kristen Williams and Amy Thomsen both at 100 percent. Williams posted 37-for-38 setting success.
“We came out flat and did not run our offense very well,” Hartford coach Paul Cassity said.
Hartford then beat Crest in two sets, 25-20 and 25-23, while serving at a 90 percent clip and recording six aces. Farr had 17 kills and nine stuff blocks. Emily Kirby and Mikayla Wilson both served at 100 percent, Williams was 13-for-14 and Leah Roberts was 8-for-9 with three aces. Williams was a perfect 43-for-43 in setting and had 21 assists.
In their most hotly contested match of the night, the Jags lost to Madison in three sets, 25-22, 18-25, 24-26. The Jags served 91 percent, with Emily Kirby and Thomsen both perfect on serves. Kirby had two aces, and Farr added 16 more kills.
