Equipment grant
Friday, September 11, 2009
The Emporia Police Department will receive a $17,200-grant for law enforcement equipment, U.S. Senator Pat Roberts announced this week.
The funds will be used to purchase a Spillman RMS premise database component to add to the Emporia Police Department’s records management system.
“The database component will allow the department to track dangerous residences in the area providing increased safety for law enforcement officers,” a press release stated. “With the addition of the new equipment, the Emporia Police Department and the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office anticipate the officers will be better prepared to respond to criminal activity in the area.”
The grant comes from the United States Department of Justice’s Bureau of Justice Assistance and was made available by the Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant Program.
