Emporia State’s soccer team took a lead into halftime on Sunday against Angelo State, but ASU rallied to beat ESU 2-1 in the final game of the MIAA/Lone Star Crossover.
Ashley Hill scored the Hornets’ only goal against the Rambelles, who hosted the Crossover and were playing on their home field. Hill scored in the 49th minute to give the Hornets a 1-0 lead
Hill finished with two shots on goal. Sarah Anderson, Amanda Penney and Alison Germany also got off shots. Nikki Schmitz, a true freshman, made her first start in goal and saved six shots.
Emporia State finished the tournament with one loss and one tie, and fell to 0-2-1 on the season.
The Hornets begin conference play Thursday, traveling to Southwest Baptist for a 4 p.m. match.
