IF YOU’VE EVER wanted to be a part of an amazing project in Emporia that will bring smiles to young and old alike for generations to come, your chance has come.

It’s time for Emporia to pull together and help The Emporia Arts Council with its push to raise the final $31,000 it needs to start on a new arts center to be located next to the Granada Theatre. Volunteers have been tirelessly raising the $2.8 million needed to build the center. The campaign has been ongoing for two years, said EAC Executive Director Melissa Windsor.

An anonymous donor has pledged $75,000 if the community can raise $62,000 by the end of September — a task that is easily reachable if all of us donate a little toward this project. Just a week after announcing the challenge, already half — $31,000 — has been raised.

We can all enjoy the new arts center when it’s completed. It will include studios and galleries, conference meeting rooms, a kitchen, a small theater and other amenities that are intended to encourage art and art appreciation. For art lovers in Emporia this project will be a dream come true. For those not exposed to the arts in Emporia, the center will offer up a chance for them to fall in love with and learn to appreciate the arts.

If you’re looking for a more “creative” way to invest in Emporia, your donation will bring you and other area residents and visitors rewards for years to come. Dig into those pockets and give the Emporia Arts Council a call. Help make Emporia’s arts community dreams come true.

We can do it if we work together.
