Emporian Robert G. Swanson has been promoted to vice chairman of Hartsook Companies of Wichita.
The announcement came from Robert F. Hartsook, chairman and CEO. Swanson, who has held a key leadership role with Hartsook Companies since he joined the firm in 1988, most recently served as president.
Swanson, “an accomplished author and frequent guest speaker, is responsible for raising more than $400 million for clients across the country. He has had a tremendous impact on the philanthropic landscape of Kansas, particularly Emporia,” stated the news release. He has provided fundraising counsel to many local nonprofit organizations, including Camp Wood YMCA, Emporia Granada Theatre Alliance, Corner House, Emporia Friends of the Zoo, Emporia Arts Council, Emporia State University and Hetlinger Developmental Services.
Swanson is a graduate of Emporia State University and Friends University in Wichita where he earned a master’s degree in business. He was CEO and president of the ESU Foundation before he joined Hartsook Companies. He is married to Roberta “Bo” Swanson and they have two children, Trevor and Grant.
Hartsook Companies is a full-service international fundraising consulting firm with offices in 20 cities worldwide. Each year the firm works with 200 clients “to support the successful realization of major gift fundraising campaigns and operational goals in the nonprofit sector,” stated the news release. At present, nearly 60 employees and consultants are a part of the employee-owned company that Hartsook founded in 1987.
