A curriculum report on the migrant and English as a Second Language summer school program will be presented to the Emporia board of education when it meets at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the Mary Herbert Learning Center.
The board also will hear a report on goals discussed at the board’s recent retreat, and will consider approving an application for a Safe & Drug Free Schools and Communities Act grant.
Among the items on the consent agenda, which normally are voted on as one item, are: transportation requests from Sacred Heart School and from Leadership Emporia; a contract with Sedgwick County Area Educational Services for the Flint Hills Special Education Cooperative, a request to exercise the flexibility clause in the memorandum of agreement for professional learning time at Village School and Lowther South Intermediate School, and approval of career and technical education quality program assurance reports at Emporia High School.
The board also will consider a request to dispose of surplus property at auction and numerous staff resignations, retirements, and hirings.
An executive session has been set for the board to consult with an attorney.

"curriculum report on the migrant and English as a Second Language summer school program" ===== Good job. Helping these students to learn is a major challenge, but with the board's support, Dr. Heim and some wonderful staff members are leading the effort to teach all children. Keep it up!
