Grants awarded

Two Lyon County organizations were among 34 designated to receive public safety grants awards Thursday by Gov. Mark Parkinson.
Parkinson said that federal funding will allow the state to award a total of $3,756,559 to 34 public safety agencies to prevent, solve and control crime.
The Fifth Judicial District’s Community Corrections office will receive $71,000 and SOS will receive $34,206..
The funds are made available through the Federal Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant program.
