Art auction
Artist and ESU student Ashton Ludden will have a silent auction of one of his works during his opening artist reception from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday in the Gilson Memorial Galley at the ESU art department in King Hall on campus. Proceeds will go to the Humane Society and the Kansas Rural Center.
Burritos
Hot breakfast burritos made with all-local ingredients will be served at 8 a.m. Saturday at the Farmers Market kiosk while supplies last. The cost for vegetarian is $4; with bacon or sausage, $4.50. All proceeds will benefit the Emporia Farmers Market. This fundraiser is sponsored by Emporia’s Country Marts.
Penny Supper
The Hartford United Methodist Women will serve the Penny Supper beginning at 5 p.m. Saturday at the Hartford United Methodist Church. Foods and prices include ham loaf, $1.75; chicken pie, $1.50; pork cutlets, $2; a variety of vegetables and salads, 50 cents; homemade noodles, 50 cents; rolls and cornbread, 25 cents; homemade pies, $1.25 each slice; and ice cream, 75 cents a dip. Apples
Hetlinger Development Services is selling apples from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. A peck is $8; half a bushel, $12; or a bushel, $20. Windfalls are currently selling for 35 cents a pound. Customers may pick their own apples or select from ones already picked. The harvest will be celebrated from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sept. 19 with AppleFest.
