Madelynns Seized by state

The Kansas Department of Revenue seized Madelynns, 511 Commercial St., early today for failure to pay retailers’ sales and withholding taxes.
Those who have a receipt for paid merchandise in the store can call the Kansas Department of Revenue at (785) 296-6130. Representatives from the Kansas Department of Revenue will be at the store at 10 a.m. Wednesday to meet with people who need to get their merchandise back. No appointment is necessary.
Freda Warfield of the Kansas Department of Revenue said seizures are done as a last resort. Seizures of property and assets are done following multiple phone calls, letters, site visits tax leins, bank levies and on-site till taps (seizure of money on site in the cash register) have been executed.
