Emporia High's soccer team won the Regional championship and a spot in the Class 5A State tournament on Saturday at TRYSA, defeating Salina Central 2-1.
Arnoldo Torres scored both unassisted goals for the Spartans in the first half, finding the net in the 11th and 16th minutes. Salina Central answered with a goal by Ryan Ingrassia in the game's 48th minute, but the Spartan defense held on for the win.
