‘Twilight’

The movie, “Twilight,” will be shown at 7 p.m. today at the Granada Theatre. Doors will open at 6 p.m. Tickets are $4. The first 200 people in will get a free slice of Wheat State Pizza. For more information, call 342-3342.

Library events

Fall storytimes at the Emporia Public Library begins with Mother Goose Time at 9:45 a.m. every Monday and Thursday for toddlers to 36 months; Pat-A-Cake Club, infants to 18 months, at 9:15 a.m. every Thursday; and Preschool Storytime, children two to five years, 10:30 a.m. every Monday, Tuesday and Thursday.

The EPL Family night will be held from 6:30 to 7 p.m. Nov. 10 with the theme, “Storytime Soup.” Family Night is free, with no registration required. Families with children of all ages are welcome. Stories, crafts and fun will be shared.

Woodwinds

The ESU Department of Music presents the Woodwind Showcase, featuring ESU ensembles of clarinet choir, flute choir and woodwind quintet, at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Heath Recital Hall in Beach Music Hall on the ESU campus. At 7:30 p.m. Nov. 12, the Mid-America Woodwind Quintet will perform at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Opera scenes will be featured at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 13 in Heath Recital Hall. Concert at Grace

The Grace United Methodist Church will be host for the sixth annual Simple Gifts Concert at 7 p.m. Thursday at the church, 2 Neosho St. Those who need transportation may call the church office, 342-2240 .

Art exhibit

In Wamego

The band, “Mainstreet,” will perform at the Columbian Theatre in Wamego for a Halloween party from 9 p.m. to midnight Saturday. Doors will open at 8 p.m. for a social hour and a time to meet the members of the band. There will be light snacks, giveaways, a costume contest and a cash bar. Tickets are $12.50 in advance and $15 at the door. According to the news release, the “popular regional band,” formed in 1979, has been entertaining the Midwest for more than 20 years with music than spans jazz, rock, blues and soul. Book sale

The Friends of the Gridley branch of Coffey County Library will have the annual Fall Book Sale from Monday through Saturday at the Gridley Library. Sale hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, Wednesday and Friday; 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday; and 9 a.m. to noon Saturday. The sale includes books for adults, teens and children, along with videos, audio books and music cds.
