H1N1 Vaccine clinics set

Friday, October 30, 2009

New clinic dates are set for H1N1 vaccinations at the Lyon County Health Department.

Renee Hively, public health manager for Lyon County Health Department, said in a press release that until vaccine availability increases, the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention have identified high priority groups including:

• Children 6 months to 4 years of age.

• Children and adolescents 5-18 years of age who have medical conditions that put them at higher risk for influenza-related complications.

• Pregnant women.

• Persons who live with or provide care for infants less than 6 months of age (parents, siblings and day care providers).

• Health care and emergency medical services personnel who have direct patient contact with patients or infectious material.

Two vaccination clinics will be available at the Lyon County Health Department:

• Monday: 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 4 to 7 p.m.

• Thursday: 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 4 to 7 p.m.
