Disability health care meeting
The Resource Center for Independent Living and the Research and Training Center on Independent Living are sponsoring a meeting from 10 a.m. to noon Oct. 30 at the Flint Hills Community Health Center. The intent is to bring together community leaders and service providers to address health-care access for people with disabilities.
People interested in attending the meeting need to make reservations with Deone Wilson at (800) 580-7245 or Deone@rcilinc.org. Accommodations for disabilities will be provided with advance notice.
Festival dance
A Fall Festival Dance for people with disabilities is planned by Goodwill Industries Easter Seals of Kansas, Inc., on Saturday in Wichita. The dance, from 7 to 9:30 p.m., is open to the public at no charge at Orchard Park, 4808 W. Ninth St., in Wichita. Music will be provided by a disc jockey.
“This type of event is important for people with developmental disabilities who do not have many opportunities for social interaction,” said Gayle Goetz, vice president of development for Goodwill.
Snacks and beverages also will be provided at no charge.
