Emporian Angela Bartley won first place in the goat-tying event after two days of competition at a Kansas High School Rodeo Association rodeo Saturday and Sunday at the Lyon County Fairgrounds. Angela’s winning time was 8.630 seconds.
According to KHSRA records, placings of other competitors from Lyon and surrounding counties were:
• Barrel Racing: Sierra Warren, Eskridge, third; Jonetta Reinert, Cassoday, fourth; Kelly Farr, Emporia, 17th; Angela Bartley, 18th; Natasha VanGundy, Americus, 25th; and Caesie Reynolds, Emporia, 35th.
• Boys’ Cutting: Kevin Veatch, Emporia, fifth.
• Breakaway Roping: Angela Bartley, 18th; Cheyenne Veatch, Emporia, 20th; Jessica Miller, Madison; 24th.
• Bull Riding: Garrett Benjamin, Emporia, second.
• Girls Cutting: Karley Kile, Overbrook, sixth.
• Goat Tying: Angela Bartley, first; Alyx Britton, Waverly, 15th; Natasha VanGundy, 23rd; Karley Kile, 24th.
• Pole Bending: Natasha VanGundy, 14th; Caroline Murray, Olpe, 19th; Jonetta Reinert, 20th; Kelly Farr, 26th.
• Team Roping: Jessica Miller, Madison, ninth; Ty Larson, Council Grove, 41st; Karley Kile, 48th; Jason Klumpe, Olpe, 55th.
• Tie-down Roping: Ty Larson, 20th; Linden Stueve, Olpe, 32nd; Kevin Veatch, 36th.
